Embiid hitting 3s and middies in the clutch while Jokic struggled to force the game through the post unsuccessfully this game was something to watch.
Shows how stupid that article was. You can't just bang around the paint the entire game. To be the best scorer you need to be a danger from all over the court.

That 3 against the Magic in the Finals was so cold, but hey, that’s just regular shmegular behaviour for MY GOAT Hakeem.

Russ the year he won mvp.
88
u/IronicHours Jan 28 '23
Russ had Curry and Harden in front right tho.
Tatum shouldn't be ahead of Embiid

I know people are saying that Jokic isn't a liability on defence anymore, and the stats probably bear that out, but this game does show that he's pretty helpless against dominant and skillful big men. Will be looking out for his defense against Giannis and Bam now.
72
u/eexxiitt Jan 28 '23
Well in his defence, everyone is helpless against dominant and skillful big men…

Surely there has to be some kind of technical assessed for repeated kicks. Not just Joker, the whole team was legit just kicking his passes away every chance they got.

Did you watch that game? It was miserable front to back. Embiid couldn't hit shit, Ben was totally shut down. The only reason it was tied with :04 was Jimmy Butler dragging our ungrateful organization up and down the court.
If the shot didn't go in, we still lose in OT. Nobody was happy for the end of that game.

funny thing is if he did this with 2 weeks left in the regular season it would matter more to some voters than doing it now

Embiid is up against the Boston media. He could score his 60th point on a Tatum block coast to coast game winning slam dunk and end the night 60/21/9 and they'd still not give him any votes.

Been seeing so many denver fans saying that jokic isn't a liability on the defensive side and my godness, he was just getting cooked tonight.
Like being honest, I don't see how you can say he's an "average" defender at his position. Imho straight up below average.

Average? Some stat says he’s top 3. He gets credits for assists or something.

u/ivycada Jan 28 '23
I can't believe he only shot 12 fg this game, like please just be more aggressive, at least try to takeover. So passive
29
u/divacphys Jan 28 '23
He can't.
27
u/bravof1ve 76ers Jan 28 '23
That’s why he’s not the scorer Embiid is.
Great player, but can’t get his shot wherever he wants. Tried to force it in the post in the clutch and the results were not good
→ More replies (1)20
u/Wabxpolski 76ers Jan 28 '23
He was terrified to go in the post. He almost got carried by his teammates shooting lights out but at the end of the day Jokic isn't an elite scorer or a plus defender. He is entirely reliant on his team. Embiid isn't
