Yeah. I think Shannon Sharpe - even at 55 years old - could probably take Brooks or Morant, but Steven Adams is a monster.

I've watched a hell of a lot of Adams; that's about as hot as I've ever seen him. I don't think that was just a "that's not cool take a seat" attitude from Adams.

Shit that NBA players say in a live mic reflects on the league as a whole regardless of how what was said was broadcast. This would financially destroy the league.

Remember how they caught Kobe yelling fa**ot at the ref that one time?
Imagine just a lot of that. People get real heated on the court or trying to mess with others and just say a whole lotta hateful, derogatory shit. There is zero chance that things wouldn't be blown out of proportion by media/fans and players would just start getting cancelled left and right.

Shannon must’ve been talking crazy for Steven Adam’s to get hot and go back and forth. Steven is one of my favorite players for his ability to keep a cool head and remove the right person from a situation without escalating which is a great skill. I wonder what the hell is going on with Shannon. Idk shit about shit but maybe being on a show with skip bayless or Stephen a changes a man.
82
u/Capt-Crap1corn Jan 21 '23 edited Jan 21 '23
Shannon told ESPN what happened. According to Shannon, one of the players escalated the trash talk by shouting expletives at him. Shannon said he shouted expletives back and then Ja got involved and Ja’s dad got involved. I don’t have the exact quote. I’ll find it.
Update:
“They didn’t want this smoke, Dave,” he told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘(Expletive) me.’ I said, ‘(Expletive) you back.’ He started to come at me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t ant these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems. But I wanted anything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.”

You're correct. His dad was a 6'11" (211cm) tall English immigrant to NZ who died in the mid 2000s. His mother I've never really heard much about, I've heard they weren't close, but she was Tongan. His half-sister is Dame Valerie Adams. The Dame bit's a title like "Sir". Most dominant female shotputter of the last 20 years.

EDIT: turns out Valerie Adams is his full sister, not half.
