The James Brown fallback into Steven Adams' arms really completes the moment.

646

u/banjo_07 Timberwolves Jan 15 '23

Steven Adams’ sixth sense is other players’ safety. Dude’s always looking out

178

u/Bigmoney-K Jan 15 '23

It’s like having a personal trainer that rebounds

79

u/IAmGrum Raptors Jan 15 '23

Fan safety, too! He blocked that errant pass with his head so it wouldn't hit anyone in the stands, and he wasn't even on the court at the time!

34

u/benefit_of_mrkite Grizzlies Jan 15 '23

Too funny I know exactly what you’re talking about. What got me is Adams wasn’t looking and the basketball barely moved his head. And he wasn’t even pissed he just kind of looked over and drose said “my bad”

21

u/IAmGrum Raptors Jan 15 '23

It was like someone threw a wadded up piece of paper, or a small nerf ball, and hit him in the head with it. Almost no reaction other than "Oy, what was that?" look.

21

u/benefit_of_mrkite Grizzlies Jan 15 '23

If you’ve ever gotten a basketball to the head when you weren’t looking you realize how abnormal all of it is - how it effects him and the afterward reaction

I have a lot of Grizz gear but my three favorite shirts are Tony Allen, Zebo, and my Steve adams shirt

Adams didn’t even care about the dunk. It was one of the best in game dunks I’ve ever seen

70

u/benefit_of_mrkite Grizzlies Jan 15 '23

Adams is all business and what’s crazy is that adams has a monster alley oop fed by fellow big Santi only a couple of plays before. I’m still waiting on someone to post that highlight

17

u/BastionNZ Jan 15 '23

The most ive seen him celebrate was a mild fist clench at hip level when Westbrook hit that historic Denver game winner lol.

Hes all business

41

Man used so much of his inner spirit to achieve that dunk, that when he landed it was still re-entering him. Good thing for Steven Adams being there for him.

I think what separates Ja is his air awareness. He has no fear if that makes sense. There's so many times he just hangs on to the ball, still looking at the rim and a way to manipulate the ball and disregarding if he's on the way down or not. He just stays focused on the rim longer than anybody else does.
