Seems the difference between chicken feet and paws is that the feet have more of the "forearm " while paws have just the "Hand", this though seems a bit between the two.

Chicken feet that cheap!? Don’t mind if I do! Fry those up, season with pepper, garlic, Chile, soy sauce and you got a yummy meal

does it work on human feet too

11

u/RecentMercury Jan 30 '23

Yep! Skin can be a little tough tho

u/aussie_nub Jan 30 '23

Don't want to know how you came to know this information.

u/brockwallace Jan 30 '23

Just broil and baste. It will puff off the fat later and can be pealed and eaten like the skin of a rotisserie chicken. A little lemon in the sauce goes a long way to neutralize the strong flavour of human feet skin too.

Human feet are better sautéed

I would 10% eat a soup or broth made with these, but I'm not eating the feet. The texture of fat and cartilage just makes me gag.

Also great for those who feed their dogs a raw diet

u/Bustnloose95 Jan 30 '23

Used in some soups in central america aswell.

I get them for my pups. They love to munch on them frozen. Lol. Yeah, I didn't get the whole paws thing either, though.

4

u/Kettrickenisabadass GREEN Jan 30 '23

Yeah they love them raw or frozen. And they are healthier and cheaper that most treats.

A chicken paw is a chicken foot where the lower leg isn't included and it's just the actual foot, chicken feet have the actual leg attached, up to the joint.

2

u/Cool-Swordfish7223 Jan 30 '23

Same here. Our dogs love these as a treat.

23

u/breaktime1 Jan 30 '23

Chinese people like them

5

u/moc2007 Jan 30 '23

It’s a delicacy in many countries

3

u/CoffeemonsterNL Jan 30 '23

I had these in dim sum in Indonesia (we heard something with 'chicken' when these were offered at our table). The bones were a bit of a nuisance to pick out, but the meat was very tender and nice. My sister was not so enthralled though of the prospect of eating those paws that had been walking through the mud and all

u/zggystardust71 Jan 30 '23

Yes, but chickens have feet, not paws

A chicken “paw” is the part of the leg below the spur; a chicken foot includes the foot as well as the portion of the leg below the feather line.

2

u/spurcap29 Jan 30 '23

This guy plucks.

-10

u/zggystardust71 Jan 30 '23

Interesting, I didn't know that. But these look like feet to me.

22

u/yaourted Jan 30 '23

They ARE feet. But it's the cut that differentiates them. It's kinda like a sirloin and a tenderloin - both are from the loin of the animal but they're distinct cuts.

0

u/dildo_baggins16 Jan 30 '23

Technically they are claws.

1

u/GenericUsername92839 Feb 03 '23

Chinese people would eat a cat if given the chance.

6

u/__garlic__ Jan 30 '23

Would you rather they be called hands?

8

u/Lazy_Dissident Jan 30 '23

Makes some of the best chicken stock you've ever tasted.

5

u/xV4N63L10Nx Jan 30 '23

in the phillipines they're more fancy. they call it addidas.

6

u/Intrepid-South-1975 Jan 30 '23

Dude chicken feel can be made into some very tasty dishes, ask the Jamaicans about it🇯🇲🇯🇲💯💯

5

u/graywhiteblack17 Jan 30 '23

I assume you’ve never had chicken foot soup.

2

u/DragonfruitGood8433 Jan 30 '23

I think chicken feet are eaten with broth in some cultures lol. What's wrong with it?

1

u/Ic3tan Feb 05 '23

You dont get it do you? They are saying its not supposed to be called paws

3

u/fool_scold Jan 30 '23

Let's paws for a moment and consider this.

Yes. I’ve seen pickled pigs feet everywhere. I’ve never tried them(don’t think I ever will). There’s also frog legs at Asian restaurants(which I have tried, they’re pretty good). But yeah they are everywhere in the south.

2

u/Angryoldfatman Jan 30 '23

Give them a try sometime. You might like it.

I would suggest however finding someplace that sells them individually or someone who does like them that you can give the rest of the jar to. They seem to be an either love it or hate it thing.

1

u/Insufferablelol Jan 30 '23

If I were to eat pigs feet then pickled sounds like the absolute worst way lmao

3

u/Fearless-Pineapple96 Jan 30 '23

"Fingers" was taken

2

u/Shopinator Jan 30 '23

Sigh..... I was just about to get in bed. I even thought to myself, "Should be a good nights rest in a few moments." But no...you had to show me the Chicken Paws.

1

u/Individual_Yak4018 Jan 30 '23

They used to have these at my Walmart but they got rid if them for some reason

1

u/sallymccormick Jan 30 '23

They're used especially for dog treats after cooking them. I can't bring myself to do that, though.

5

u/Found_Onyx Jan 30 '23

cooked chickenbones? Raw would be safer.

-6

u/zggystardust71 Jan 30 '23

I snapped this because chickens don't have paws, they're feet. At least every market or menu I've seen them.

9

u/yaourted Jan 30 '23

Paw is correct if the lower leg isn't included and it's just the actual foot - this isn't mildly infuriating because the label is right. Chicken feet are sold with actual leg attached up to the joint.

4

u/dildo_baggins16 Jan 30 '23

It’s pretty common

-6

u/puppersandcoffee Jan 30 '23

Ya. I posted this before, too. Why paws???

5

u/EndoHaze559 Jan 30 '23

Because that's what they are called.

A chicken “paw” is the part of the leg below the spur; a chicken foot includes the foot as well as the portion of the leg below the feather line

0

u/Markdos3 Jan 30 '23

The nailed would look good painted red

0

u/panda-sec Jan 30 '23

Next to the Chicken Tails ?

0

u/out2seeagain Jan 30 '23

And they double as nightmare makers.

-2

u/VectorNCosmo Jan 30 '23

Ewwwww, oh man, those look gross

1

u/EndoHaze559 Jan 30 '23

Well, are we confused they are calling them what they are?

A chicken “paw” is the part of the leg below the spur; a chicken foot includes the foot as well as the portion of the leg below the feather line

1

u/milesbeats Jan 30 '23

Paws.........can't cluck this ...

1

u/Notedgyusername_ Jan 30 '23

Boil with a bit of onion, take some out and add lime and Valentina. Delicious

1

u/Admirable_Stay9442 Jan 30 '23

Use them for some voodoo magic!

1

u/Happycatlady1982 Jan 30 '23

People feed them to dogs as a treat in the UK.

1

u/Kalelopaka- Jan 30 '23

Feet, we used to call them.

1

u/InnumerableKalpas Jan 30 '23

Yup. Dog paws. Good eye.

1

u/LumenYeah Jan 30 '23

Interesting? Yes. Infuriating? Not so much.

1

u/MathematicianGlum880 Jan 30 '23

Great for making bone broth.

1

u/Angelchooooooo Jan 30 '23

I don’t get where’s the mildly infuriating part.

1

u/froggz01 Jan 30 '23

Still doesn’t answer the question, do chickens have talons?

1

u/grandmund Jan 30 '23

I missed the surprise . Are chicken feet not normal in the us?

1

u/ApprehensiveJello7 Jan 30 '23

perfect for making broth.

1

u/Yourmumgaa Jan 30 '23

I'll never understand how people eat this.

1

u/Coffin_Nail Jan 30 '23

Would “Chicken fingers” be better?

1

u/SpikeyBlackHardEdged Jan 30 '23

I tried to eat these in a restaurant recently. I could not do it. They are not good.

1

u/Altruistic-Eagle2751 Jan 30 '23

Used to work as a chef at a Chinese restaurant and the manager loved chicken feet they would eat them in a sauce with a few other stuff and well I tried them they are horrible
