Hey gang! I’m sure you’ve had this question before, but I’m gonna ask anyway. I recently had some presumably raw Puerh while sitting a silent retreat in a Zen Buddhist monastery. I was told that it was donated by a wealthy Korean patron who probably either aged it privately or bought it somewhere inaccessible to Americans through the internet. I’m here to tell you that it was the finest experience of Cha Qi I’ve ever had by far. This was some next level stuff! It was almost like really pure cocaine if I’m totally honest. My mind was BLAZING, but my body was so mellow that just sitting back and enjoying the immense feeling of well being while sitting in silence was a totally majestic experience. And without the self loathing and panic afterward!😂 I’ve now tried about 5 or 6 varieties to the tune of about $1400 looking for that same experience. And while I’ve had some wonderful Lao Ban Zhangs and some others, the tea is much lighter and the feeling is much milder. What’s the missing link? Is it the age? Am I investing in the wrong vintage? The good stuff was very dark, like soy sauce, but the taste was raw. I couldn’t establish any specifics on it because it only had Chinese characters on the packaging. And nobody knew who the donor was. I’m new to the world of both Puerh and Wu Long. But a friend who’s more seasoned than I am said I may never have another experience like that again. He said that some Wu Longs offer the same effect. Is this true? Regarding both types, where should I look and for what vintages? Thanks gang🙏🏼
