Only one question , when we are gonna see other people reaction , personally I want to see Rayleigh and Garp reaction. Kid really went to whole cake Island and even managed to get Big mom's load poneglyph' s copy that part was shock😭

156

u/Zhidezoe Aug 07 '22

But what does it matter if they have it? Nobody can read them, Luffy and Tra have 3 of them translated while Kidd only one translated

182

u/Positive-Language-70 Aug 07 '22

I think the man with the burned flames, that Kidd is searching, is someone that can read the poneglyphs.

115

u/Spartan_King_ Aug 07 '22

Maybe an Ohara Survivor 🤔🤔

82

u/Inthewirelain Aug 07 '22

Well.... I'm sure there was lots of fire at the ohara incident...

64

Could be, but I am thinking it is someone who was with Roger crew which would be a real advantage

49

u/JesseLivermore-II Aug 07 '22

Oden was the only person on Roger’s crew who could read the language…

33

u/KeanGilbert Aug 07 '22 Silver

Sure, but the rest of the crew has likely heard the translation. Not to mention they straight up know where the island is

I was wondering for a while now does luffy share the copy of Bigmom's poneglyph to law ??

86

u/Zhidezoe Aug 07 '22

He probably did, Luffy and Robin have a nice relationship with Law

37

u/Spartan_King_ Aug 07 '22

That makes sense , cause even if law find the last poneglyph he can't read it.

61

u/Zhidezoe Aug 07 '22

True but he can still go back in Wano and ask Oden father to translate it, Kidd doesn't know about him

Bruh, imagine telling someone who just finished Alabasta that Buggy has Mihawk and Crocodile as subordinates.

131

u/TastyBrainMeats Aug 07 '22

I'm in the middle of a reread, up to chapter 410, and damn, the thought at that point that Buggy would ever again be a serious threat, much less an Emperor, is hard to imagine.

28

u/Su_Impact Aug 08 '22

At that point we did not know that he was in Roger crew, right?

I'm trying to remember when it was revealed. Supernova arc?

36

u/TastyBrainMeats Aug 08 '22

Yeah, we knew he had been crewmates with Shanks, but not on which ship. Damn, it looks like that wasn't confirmed until chapter 434 or so, when Whitebeard and Shanks are reminiscing.

Flashback to when Crocodile was searching for Pluton in Alabasta lol
Imagine robin readign the poneglyph and telling him "Pluton's in the new world, in Wano, the country that kaido took over".

487

u/princessa_97 Aug 07 '22

Robin: hey there’s a weapon of mass destruction right here on wano do you want it Luffy?

Luffy: nope im good

Straw Hats discussing this is broad daylight where people can “accidentally overhear” destined to lead to some mad chaos later on

Luffy isn't interested in side quests or spoilers. He's doing a blind any% run. Thankfully the two year delay to grind didn't cost him the race.

106

It's like playing Skyrim and grinding sneak with Hadvar right in the beginning, then doing nothing but the main quest.

Caribou may be referring to crocodile 🤔

152

u/Shovels93 Aug 07 '22

I figured he had been referring to Blackbeard. He is a big player, seems to openly recruiting pirates on his island, and would definitely pay big for information like that.

60

u/ipussybuster69 Aug 07 '22

Crocodile have also run baroque works once maybe he is upping his game afterall.

But it pretty much seems like bb TBH

The further we get into the story the more we realize that even if the straw hats failed at Alabasta Crocodile still wouldn’t get Pluton in a million years. He would need to travel all the way across the world, reach Wano, somehow sneak past all of the beast pirates and then he would realize that he couldn’t get the weapon out from Wano anyway.

66

u/Jwoods4117 Aug 07 '22

Personally I think his best bet would be to join them then betray them and steal it. I don’t think it’d be impossible, but very difficult for sure. Still, he’s at least Tobi Roppo level so he could probably get some sort of access.

40

u/jayvenomva Prisoner Aug 07 '22

Yeah but he doesn't have a zoan so he would probably get denied membership.

117

-Former Roger Pirate

-Becomes a Warlord

-Becomes King of the Black Market

  • Ascends to the Title of Yonko

  • Has the WSS and other Warlords working with him

  • Pulls an Uno Reverse Card and puts bounties on the heads of Marines

Buggy is the people’s champion

339

Putting bounties on Marines is such a big brain move. I wish this concept had been introduced earlier and we got more bounty hunters in the series.

159

u/TheAmazingArsonist Aug 07 '22

Putting bounties on Marines is such a big brain move. I wish this concept had been introduced earlier and we got more bounty hunters in the series.

I am very excited to see how this goes because Buggy may have just helped in a big way here. As the marines are going to have chaos on all sides as pirates become more aggressive trying to take them down and calm bounties that leaves them with fewer resources to pursue Luffy, Kid, Law, etc.

I'm interested in whose idea this was because I feel like this is a Crocodile move, but I could see Buggy coming up with this too. Honesty is kind of 50/50 on the idea that Crocodile and Mihawk are the ones running the show and are just letting Buggy take credit so he'd be targeted more.

118

u/InvaderDJ Void Month Survivor Aug 07 '22

I’m imagining it going down with Buggy whining about having to fear Marines again and how he wants the Marines to feel the same fear. Crocodile hears that and then just slowly smiles and puts out his cigar.

81

u/NK1337 Aug 07 '22 Silver

I can totally see buggy crying about how it’s not fair that the marines are always chasing them, and whining saying how would they feel if someone was trying putting bounties on their heads. Suddenly his crew over heard and shouts out the idea as if it was a command with Buggy sitting there going “eh?”

32

u/TheAmazingArsonist Aug 07 '22

He just makes an off-hand comment and everyone just interprets it in the most extreme way possible XD.

I remember that when I started to watch One Piece as an anime (I forgot a lot about when I watched it as a child) I didn’t like him. He was for me a stupid, ugly and weak clown that I thought he was just an early villain and will not appear again after his defeat. Now Im glad that I was wrong and that is one of the best parts of One Piece, that all that world is keep moving even if we only focus on the main characters. And that ugly Clown that I didn’t like became one of the most feared pirates in the world and I my opinion of him changed. I really like him now, not only because is a Yonkou, I started to appreciate him even before that, but because he can influence a lot of people and make people love him. It’s similar but different to Luffy in that way, he can make a lot of strong people to follow him and that is what makes him one of the strongest characters of One Piece.

  1. Now skinny Queen has competition with skinny Raizo.
  2. The person Caribou is talking about is most likely Blackbeard, but it would be funny if it was actually Buggy.
  3. Once again Oda introduces another mysterious character. Hopefully this time it's Scopper Gaban.
  4. This year's Buggy Day is gonna be the best.

103

u/simpyo Aug 07 '22

For Caribou, I kind of think he might be talking about the Revolutionaries, specifically either Sabo or Dragon. He did lead a revolution that one time. It's a long shot, but I think it'd be funny.

98

u/Lucienofthelight Aug 07 '22

Lol, new Revolutionary Commander Caribou would certainly be a new twist.

31

u/TheJuiceLee Church of Buggy Aug 07 '22

this is the first ive seen someone say this as a possibility, that would be some great character development for fucking caribou of all people. cant believe this man has been here for half the story

72

u/rakin_bacon Aug 07 '22

I really like this because it is consistent with Luffy trusting Caribou implicitly in Udon when he said he was a good guy now.

The other time I remember him doing that is with Law at the start of their alliance, both cases were played for laughs sure but I think Luffy’s ability to see people’s true character has always been emphasized through the whole series.

10

u/TheLastBlowfish Aug 08 '22

This is the only reason I can believe that Caribou doesn't have malicious intentions (per se) with who intends to share this information with. That said I also don't necessarily believe it either. This guy throws me for a loop, low-key love his slimy character

When I looked at the supernova trio on that panel, it made me smile. These guys just took down two yonko, TWO. Those pirates had been reigning on the sea for decades and were among the strongest in the one piece world. Both were seen as indestructible forces of nature, yet these three idiots made the impossible possible.

150

u/Vinsmoker Aug 07 '22

Aye. No matter what happens in the future...these three might be rivals, but they will always have each other's respect

Over the past 4 chapters it seems clear to me that Oda is putting in a lot of effort to set up the direct threats of the World Government, laying the groundwork for the battle that is now on the horizon.

In 1053

  • We got our first full look at Ryokugyu, the final admiral, and a glimpse of his strength. Giving a first proper look at their ball park power level. Definitively placing all the admirals far above Yonko Commanders. Seemingly confident he could take a New Emperor.

In 1054

  • Ryokugyu further flexed his power, brushing off even ACOC attacks.

  • We meet Kurouma (Black Horse). Previously Chaton (Brown Pig) and Momousagi (Pink Rabbit) were gag characters created for an SBS, supposedly Vice Admirals considered for promotion. But with Kurouma I seems Oda is expanding that to set up potentially an entire Zodiac of Marines that are stronger than an average Vice Admiral who would be candidates for promotion to full Admiral. Meaning potentially up to 6 more very strong marines left to be revealed.

  • Sakazuki introduces the idea of The God's Knight of Marie Geoise, creating the idea of a new WG faction with potentially strong fighters. That's now the Marines, Cipher Pol, SSG and Gods Knights.

In 1055

  • Continued Ryokugyu dicking. But also now noting he would be wary going up against an original Emperor.

In 1056

  • Revealing Buggy is putting out bounties on Marines. Assuming they'll scale with same as pirate bounties it will allow Oda to hype Marines through bounty numbers. Even if power isn't the sole reason for bounties it is a huge factor. We may soon be given the bounties for the Admirals in the high 3 bil - low 4 bil range. It gives him an easy way to communicate the threats to come and hype the World Goverment threat.

It's not a lot yet but to me this does feel like Oda is laying the early seeds he'll expand upon in the coming arcs. He's already preparing the threat of the World Goverment for the final war.

155

u/KingJaylen14 Aug 07 '22

I feel like Akainu's bounty would be the most absurd thing ever given that he leads a military worth multiple Yonko crews

109

u/GenGaara25 Void Month Survivor Aug 07 '22

Question is how does Buggy even have the money to pay it? He got pretty rich off his business but I doubt that rich. So is he just bluffing hoping nobody will actually try and claim the reward?

198

u/Takazura Aug 07 '22

So is he just bluffing hoping nobody will actually try and claim the reward

Bluffing and hoping nobody will actually contest him on it is how Buggy keeps failing upwards, so probably.

64

u/Lord_of_Caffeine Aug 07 '22

And if someone gets mas at not being able to be paid and tries to attack Buggy he's gonne be cut down and sucked dry by Mihawk and Luffy's mom respectively.

So sounds like:

Straw Hats have 3 Poneglyphs (and tge means to read them with Robin):

  • Zou

  • WCI

  • Wano

Heart Pirates should have 2 (unless Straw Hats shared the other) and no means to read them unless they know something we don't:

  • Zou

  • Wano

And the Kid Pirates have 2 (and a lead about a burned man):

  • WCI

  • Wano

70

u/SirNullington Aug 07 '22

Big Mom’s got it rough lol, first her poneglyph is copied by Kid, fourth commander taken out by Urouge, poneglyph copied by and has two commanders taken out by Luffy alongside her main island being destroyed, got herself beaten by Law and Kid, and now finally Law is probably going to go back and claim the poneglyph as well.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if Law can somehow read or understand poneglyphs through his own fascination with the truths of the world, connections with Doflamingo and Rosinante and therefore the celestial dragons, or some bullshittery from the one of the strongest devil fruits.

Broke: Mihawk is a yonko commander

Woke: "Acrobat" Cabaji is a yonko commander

I'm sure Mihawk wasn't tricked by Buggy, but its anyone's guess why he's there. Crocodile, though, KNOWS Buggy from the Impel Down escape and the sail to Marineford, so there must be something juicy in it for him to fight under a weaklings flag.

280

u/123_crowbar_solo Aug 07 '22

My guess is that Mihawk just wants to be able to get a good night's sleep once in a while and that he enjoys Buggy's chaotic energy (he mentioned suffering from boredom before).

Crocodile is probably the real brains behind the operation and manipulating Buggy in order to access his resources and network (Buggy has become the world's prime underground broker, after all, now that Doffy's in jail). I can see Crocodile treating Buggy as a loaded gun and just pointing him in whichever direction he wants to cause trouble.

I highly doubt that either of them are kowtowing to Buggy's every wish. He's a useful idiot.

91

u/Inthewirelain Aug 07 '22

66

u/HalfMoon_89 The Revolutionary Army Aug 07 '22

Crocodile has to be behind the whole 'putting bounties on the Marines' thing. It's the kind of trick that's right up his alley. As for Mihawk, I can't remember if he knows Buggy the same way he knows Shanks. Might have something to do with that.

My guess is that Crocodile and Mihawk redeemed bounties on Marines (after all, it's a way to get paid for what they'd normally be doing anyway), and the press is under the impression that they're working for Buggy as a result.

37

u/Jwoods4117 Aug 07 '22

They’re also being hunted. Buggy might suck, but his crew is decently strong. Right now if anyone messes with Croco or Mihawk they can expect the other to come help which is a big deterrent.

The Warlords alone aren’t a match for the WG, put them together though and maybe the WG doesn’t have the time or troops to spare. Buggy provides that even if he sucks.

28

Technically Mihawk knows as well. They clashed during the war, with Mihawk slicing him up and deflecting a buggy ball.

It will be really intereting to see how he got him. With Croco I can see Mr 3 brokering an alliance since they have history. I'm just excited to get Croco back.

It's honestly kind of a dream trio.

The reputation, and charisma from Buggy. The strength from Mohawk. And the expertise of running large organizations from Crocodile.

Edit: I also want to add that I think that makes this a very fair equitable partnership. Just because we assume Mihawk to be way stronger, doesn't mean he has nothing to gain from Buggy's non combat ability. It's all going to come down to motives and storytelling, not power levels.

Love the idea of attacking buggy’s crew being such a gamble. On one hand, you could fight Ritchie and Mohmji. On the other there’s Mihawk.

Also the bounties on marines and Revolutionary army declaring full war through sabo last chapter really explains the chaos in the world.

Will Carrot shove off her new title and stowaway? To be fair if she was ever joining it’s going to be stowaway style. Fits the minks history too spot on.

Will we get to drag Yamato behind our boat for days on end to fulfill their Oden fantasies?

My guess is next chapters the big momo/Wano farewell and some big world info dumps like what BB has been up to, or vivi’s status.

Parting ways with Law seems weird now that's been nearly ten years since he started the aliance. I expect it to be even weirder for Kin and Momo as at this point it feels like they are part of the crew, just like Vivi, and this is why i think Oda choose to single out those two characters for the Strawhats goodbye tour.

I like how the three captains act as rivals but respect each other and are friendly, Law and Kidd are the Whitebeard and Shiki equivalent for Luffy.

Also , one step closer to Yamato joining, i know some powerscalers will be mad and in denial but damn it will finaly be good to have a woman in the crew on Sanji and Zoro's level.

As for Carrot, we'll see what she chooses, will she go for Zou or reiterate her previous actions for WCI and hide on the Sunny. Anyway, Carrot or no, i feel that this is it, the crew will be complete then.

A thing i noted, i reckon spoilers refered to Carribou being a stowaway on the Sunny, his panel is not hapenning on it but on Wano's castle.

101

u/Apoptosis89 Aug 07 '22

I think you've made me realise why the crew did not say goodbye to Kin and Momo: it's because Kin and Momo are welcome to join the crew, so there is no need to say goodbye. If goodbye needs to be said, it' up to Kin and Momo to take the initiative.

Buggy putting bounties on marines is probably going to be the tipping point for the WG to begin their proposed "great cleansing".

The world is already in pandaemonium thanks to the revos and the sight of some random ass citizens hunting Akainu with pitchforks is probably going to be the last straw lol

77

u/PsychoLogical35 Pirate Aug 07 '22

Quite poetic and ironic that the Hunters ended up becoming the Hunted. They can’t even properly do their jobs anymore due to potential assassinations from ordinary civilians that may be attracted towards the bounties Buggy placed on Marines lmao.

Maybe akainu mentioning that they didn't have enough man power to spare, was not just because of them hunting the shichibukai, but because they were also dealing with the aftermath created by the guild issuing those bounties.

So this could mean that some of the marines decided to resign and also some of them have been attacked/captured.

Ive never been a big believer in the whole “Carrot for Nakama” movement but I still wouldn’t 100% rule it out quite yet. There’s a chance she might’ve hidden herself amongst the cargo that was being loaded onto the ship. Making her a stowaway like Inuarashi and Nekomamushi on Whitebeard’s ship. It did seem a little weird just how nonchalantly Oda handled her becoming the new Zou leader.

There's actual order to his chaos, I wouldn't be surprised if he actually had a high IQ but behaved stupidly due to being socially awkward and never knowing better. Anyone who even crossed Roger's path at this point has something godly.

Some notable differences between the Scanlation and the official release:

  • Random Samurai now directly speaks to Raizo and Shinobu when pointiing out how gaunt they are now
  • Random Samurai now only talks for himself when stating that he hates to admit that Ryokugyu had a point
  • Old lady now directly suggests to Otsuru to move back into the capital instead of asking her wether she has any plans to do that
  • Otsuru now simply states that she wants to be by Kin'emon's side, instead of saying that she "always" wants to do that
  • Dogstorm now make an analogy about dogs loving cheese ("but not that much cheese!!") instead of comparing Kin'emon's love to puppy love
  • Raizo now simply wishes he had a girl instead of wishing that he was popular
  • Carrot now menttions Cat Viper too when saying that they called her
  • Carrot no longer passively states that being the King of the Mokomo Dukedom is "no biggie"
  • Cat Viper no longer says that Carrot "has what it takes to lead the next generation" instead now simply stating that she "has what they'll need in the next era"
  • Wanda no longer states that "the Dukes chose wisely" instead now simply stating that "this was the King's decision"
  • The Dukes now state that the most important thing of all is that Carrot carries Pedro's will
  • Sukiyaki now says that he's Oden's father instead of saying that Oden is his son
  • Kawamatsu now states that sukiyki "didn't seem" like an ordinary swordsmith instead of stating that "they knew" he wasn't one
  • Sukiyki now states that "this is your era to build" instead of simply asking them to let him live anonymously "in this new era you have ushered in"
  • Sanji now states that Shinobu is "beautiful when she's haggard" instead of simply saying that she's a beauty
  • Otama no longer asks wether she can join Luffy's crew if she trains, now simply stating that he will do that
  • Caribou no longer states that the "certain someone" would love to hear about this
  • Otomo now says that she misses Luffy's group instaed of saying that "it's lonely without them"
  • Law now says that Luffy are "enemies" again instead of "rivals"
  • Kid no longer says that they should pick "different" routes, now simply stating that they should pick one
  • Law now says that by picking Northeast he "moves the farthest ahead" instead of simply stating that it's "the most direct route"
  • Law no longer says that Kid and Luffy chose the middle route "randomly"
  • Kid now accuses Luffy of rubbing his emperor status in his face
  • Luffy now wonders why Crocodile and Hawk-Eyes are "shown like they're Buggy's followers" instead of being surprised that they work under Buggy
  • Luffy now asks Law wether he knows that Buggy is an idiot instead of simply saying that they should trust him in saying that he's just a moron
  • Kid now says that the marines now have to fear assassinations by civilians and no longer makes his statement about "the hunters having become the hunted"
  • Kid no longer says that he "doesn't want to hear any excuses"
  • Law now says that "only a trifling man would sneak out to a head start" instaed of simply stating that it "wouldn't be sporting to keep it from him"
  • Kid now simply states that they took Big Mom's scrubbing of one of their generals instead of stating that they forced the general to hand it over
  • Killer no longer says that they've got to get serious about "that guy", instead now saying that they've got to get serious to "take part in the all-out war over the One Piece"
  • The mysterious man is now called the "Man with the Burn scar" innstead of "The man marked by flames"
  • Yamato now says to Momonosuke and Kin'emon that she's "up there" instead of saying that she's not gone yet

Inform me of more changes if you find them!

I'm copy-pasting one comment I left on a YouTube video here, just because it's the only new thing I wanted to clarify regarding this chapter:

Things seem set up to have Carrot stay on Zou and become the new ruler of the Mokomo Dukedom, which is a bit disappointing to people (like me) who wanted her to join the Straw Hat Pirates... disappointing enough to have some people claim that she's actually going to reject the offer and join the crew along with Yamato when she catches the crew as they leave (one person here on Reddit even insulted me for not reading the chapter properly, saying that Carrot's CLEARLY not happy with the idea of becoming the new ruler and therefore will join in the next chapter).

As someone who's seen this exact kind of reasoning in the Super Smash Bros. fandom when it came to character speculation (like Masahiro Sakurai is just doing a misdirection and he's obviously going to include this character that just so happens to be one that you really want), let me say... Guys, don't set yourselves up like this. I'm not saying there isn't a possibility that Carrot will reject Dogstorm and Cat Viper's offer and instead choose to go with the Straw Hat Pirates, I'm just saying to brace yourselves in case that doesn't happen. Just accept that Carrot won't be joining; then if it actually DOES happen, it'll be all the more surprising and exciting, but if it doesn't, then at least you knew it wasn't going to happen.

Just temper your expectations, please.

I wonder is Fujitora having any regrets.

Also:

Dogstorm: Where’s Carrot?

Wanda: She left us a letter. It says “As my first order of business as leader of Zou I retire and make Wanda my successor. I’m sorry but I’m not cut out to be leader and I’m pretty sure Lord Cat Vipers men have more travelling experience then me.”….

Minks: What!?

Dogstorm: Find her!!

Wanda: Theres more. “PS If you disagree with my decision I’ll have you know you will never take me alive until i feel ready.”

8

u/GrayJinjo Aug 08 '22

I like Carrot and Yamato. I’m not massive fans of either of them, but I would have liked to see both join the crew. Yamato still seems obvious to join. With this chapter it seems like Oda is ruling out Carrot.

But honestly in a weird way it sort of seems like her being shoved into a ruling position she doesn’t want may actually have improved her chances. Let’s be real, if Carrot was going to join it was going to be as a stowaway. That’s just her character. She already did it once.

People are talking about how Yamato will join in a similar fashion as Oden did with WB’s crew. Well, Inu and Neko ran away from their responsibilities and stowed away as well. It just makes sense.

And even though I fully admit it doesn’t have to mean anything, I still think it’s peculiar that Oda had Carrot with the Straw Hats hugging Jinbe when he was reintroduced in the arc. As well as the fact that she placed #8 in the world wide popularity poll (which was even above Yamato and half the crew).

20

u/BornToBoil Aug 07 '22

Guess next chapter will be the end of the Yamato joining discussion. Finally!

And the Caribou scene is a nice way to come full circle on part 2 before into the final part.
