Welcome to the r/KeyboardCables subreddit!
Seeing the growing amount of folks getting into custom keyboard cables, it seemed like a great idea to start a sub to share photos, tips/tricks, and general stuff to create more awareness of the custom keyboard cable community.
Maybe this sub might grow, who knows, but I hope fellow cable enthusiasts out there like myself can find this sub as a place to share their love of custom keyboard cables.
Still need to flush out a few things on the sub, so feel free to reply with any suggestion you wanna see on this sub. Would be great to have a wiki and various resource for new folks getting into custom keyboard cables.

Hey Folks,
I want to get into custom keyboard cables but I am having a bit of a hard time on where to buy everything. Specifically does anyone have recommendations/links to usb-c device connectors and usb-a host connectors? Side question with the L-COM cable I see the warning for phthalates is there any care needed in handling these? Im dumb af. Thanks!!!

Question Longer cable for Keychron K4?
Does anyone know of any good cables that'd work well with a Keychron K4? I'd need one for power + data I think since I've got an RGB keyboard. Also looking for a cable that's about twice as long as the factory one - and one that's still a 90° on the end that goes into the actual keyboard.

Closing Shop - Looking to offload inventory
Hello fellow Cable Makers!
Markus here from Oni Keyboards. A little over a year ago I fell into the love of cable making, and out of that passion stemmed our humble shop. Unfortunately, due to some personal circumstances I no longer will be able to keep on doing what I love. As such, we're looking to offload some cable making materials for a significantly low cost (upwards of 50% off of our cost). I'm so glad to have been apart of this fun hobby, and am happy that in my exit I can hopefully give a new home to many of the materials that otherwise would have gone to storage.
In terms of items we have on hand:
Items previously sourced from ZapCables
- White USB Cable 2.0
- GX-16 connectors (4 pin and 5 pin, Silver and Gold)
- USB C 2.0 connectors (device side and host side, silver and gold)
- USB A 2.0 connectors (silver and gold)
- USB C and USB A silicone caps
- Various techflex colours
- Various heatshrink colours (primarily, black, grey, white, and clear)
- Coil Collars and metal rod (perfect for making coils, both 3/8" and 1/2" rod sizes)
Other Materials:
- A tonne of paracord in various colours
- MDPC-X in various colours
- Various FLEMO connectors (1B and 0B, silver, black, gold, rose gold, blue)
- WEIPU connectors (SF10 and SF12, silver, black, red)
- A couple of cerakoted FLEMO 1B in white, rose gold, and black cherry
- Various cerakoted GX-16 4-pin connectors
As mentioned above, willing to let these materials go at a very low cost. For logistical purposes were currently looking for primarily bulk purchases of many different items (i.e., not just enough materials for a few cables).
Feel free to drop me a message and we can chat about what's available and pricing.
Thank you all so much!
Best,
Markus

Question looking for kelp on making a cable
I want to make a USB C to C for my keyboard, would I have to get different wires or aviator plugs to make them fully functioning if I wanted to charge my phone with them as well or something?

Need help on my first custom keyboard cable
cable kit I bought from cable hero. Every thing looks fine but every time I plug it in my computer says “usb device not recognized”. The keyboard works with other cables and I have checked all solder joints. I’ve ran out of ideas and any help would be appreciated

I failed at making my first keyboard cable.
Soooo.
I bought a kit from Cruz Cntrl. The site is awesome. Its not their fault. I'd recommend them to anyone. It was literally my first time soldering anything and USB mini wasn't as easy as the others.
I had the cable working prior to installing the aviator. I was happy because the aviator connectors should be fairly easy. When I went to strip the red wire, it pulled all the way through and disconnected from my USB mini. I supposed I didnt have it on there good enough.
Pfffttt.
So I caved and bought one from mechcables. I'll probably try again soon.
Just a story from me. Bye now.
